RunDLL There was a problem starting (SOLVED)
« on: April 06, 2016, 12:54:16 pm »
I didn’t have any particular problem with my year old Lenovo desktop computer (Windows 10), but on the recommendation of a friend, I ran the Tweaking Repair yesterday – actually ran it twice in safe mode per the instruction. It all ended with a restart, and everything seems to work fine.

But each time I start the computer now, a pop-up message appears that reads:

                                  RunDLL

                                            There was a problem starting
                                            C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\iMController\Plugins\LenovoPaperDisplayPlu
                                            gin\x64\CustomEventMonitor.dll

                                            Access is denied.
                                                                                                                    OK

I click on OK above, the pop-up disappears and I’m good to go on.

How do I safely get rid of the pop-up message at startup? Any help appreciated.

Re: RunDLL There was a problem starting - SOLVED

Problem solved as the pop-up message no longer appears.

The only thing I did that may have prompted the disappearance of the pop-up from the startup screen is to have followed the path (C:\ProgramData\Lenovo\iMController\Plugins\LenovoPaperDisplayPlugin\x64\CustomEventMonitor.dll) all the way to the end just to see what might be on offer to help get the access restored and the pop-up removed. Towards the end of clicking through the pathway, a pop-up informed that administrative permission was required for continued access through the path. Then, clicked on the administrative permission button in the pop-up window and got access to look all the way to the end file.

Whether that activity solved the problem or not, I'm not really sure.

All's well that ends well.

I had informed Shane of your problem following using WR but he has been really tied up with his computer business that he has been unable to get to the forum.

Anyway, glad you were able to sort it.

You can add (SOLVED) to your thread by clicking on Modify in your opening post and adding that to the title.
