Lost my drive letters after running TWR
« on: March 03, 2016, 01:55:47 am »
I ran Tweaking Windows Repairs yesterday evening before going to bed. This morning I tried to open a file, it wasn't here. When I opened Windows Explorer, my two secondary drives are gone. Supposedly disconnected and hoping they are not wiped out. Please help! What do I do?

My system: Windows 10

Does Disk management still show them where you can reassign drive letters ?

Failing that, boot up into Safe Mode, start WR again and use the registry restore option.

I tried to boot up to safe mode but it couldn't go through because windows could not find a system image. I then tried to create a system image on a dvd then I realised that it would take more than 20 dvds as it has already taken 5 and a lot of time, so I cancelled it. What shall I do?

You PM'd me the info in this post to which I answered what I use for system images for my Win 7, but I wasn't aware there was a correlation between the need to have a system image which is usually saved onto external media and being able to boot up into Safe Mode in Win 10.

What error message if any are you getting when trying to boot up into Safe Mode and how are you trying to do it ?

My program cant make any drive letters disappear, there isnt a single command in the whole program that can do that

It sounds like hard drive may have gone bad or the file system is corrupt and just needs repaired.

It has been a while, what is the status of things now?
