New to Tweaking.com - Windows Repair
« on: January 30, 2016, 08:10:47 am »
Can someone tell me how to use the Windows Repair Tool?

I am new to this and would like to check for issues.

My ISP (CenturyLink) recently ran a repair on my personal computer with Tweaking.com's Windows Repair and it seemed to be a great tool to use to repair Windows. So I would like to also run a scan on my mother's and sister's computer.

P.S. I am running Windows 10 on all computers.

Thanks in advance! :)

The program is self explanatory - read what it says in Step 1 and after doing that, click on Step 2 and open the Pre-Scan then wait for it to finish.

If that finds anything to repair then use the relevant buttons.

If it finds corrupt Package files then post the log where Julian or Shane will upload them for you to copy into the respective folder, then click on each Step in progression, clicking the relevant buttons.

When it comes to the chkdsk, use the lower button for it to run on the next reboot as a chkdsk in read-only mode can give false errors and you would have to run the other one then anyway.

Thanks! I will check it out. It did report some problems. But I can't remember what the problems were.

Run it again then post the logs.

If the Pre-Scan reports corrupt Cat and Mum files, then open a thread in the Cat and Mum files section where they will be uploaded for you with instructions how  to copy them.

Did the chkdsk /f report any problems ?
