Hi all - I've seen this reported elsewhere (without a fix), and the  problem is believed to be an out of date msvcrt.dll. My version is 7.0.9600.17415; can anyone who upgraded from 8.1 to 10 successfully let me know what their version of msvcrt.dll was? All other windows test/repair/fix have been completed, system should upgrade cleanly, but won't. Been working on this for over a week now, so any help is appreciated.

7.0.9600.17415 is the correct version. That error might mean there was a permissions problem somewhere. Problem with that error is, anything can cause it and so it is very vague.

It means the there was an access violation in memory, so a command tried to access something it was expecting, and it wasnt there and so the crash.

What is the best way of requesting a real person at MS to take a look at this? this isn't working: https://partner.support.services.microsoft.com/en-us/contact/menu/hardware/windowspc/ts/?osmcsignin=true&wa=wsignin1.0

Hi jrny2k,

I too have the same (similar) error but what does this mean and how foes one 'fix' the error.  Went to the website help (via Computer Management) but there was nothing specific for msvcrt.dll, version: 7.0.9600.17415.  Can anyone out there shed any light on the matter?

Thanks,

Erik

PS: I have been able to get help form Micosoft Answer Desk (four times in fact) via their 'chat line' and remote computer access service and am now awaiting a call back from a level two tech (they did ring back but very early in the morning before I was out of bed).  Hoping to hear back from them today.  Will keep you posted.

My computer manufacturer wasn't too helpful insisting that I use the Media Creation tool (which I explained twice that I had already tried that method) to download an ISO file which I have mounted/burned to a USB and DVD respectively but neither work.
