VSS - SOLVED

I've run the latest version of tweaking.com and am getting numerous VSS errors. The even reviewer message states that "A critical component required by the Volume Shadow Copy service is not registered. This might happen if an error occurred during Windows setup or during installation of a Shadow Copy provider." Any advice or help would be highly valued.

I havent seen that error after the repairs before. Can you copy and paste the error from the event viewer? Also having some info would be helpful, like what version of windows

hmmm Symantec is on there for making it's own restore points as well do you have Norton anti virus?I wonder if you go into safe mode turn off system restore then turn it back on if it will fix your error. (when doing so it will remove all previous restore points.)
Or if you did a repair install on Norton it may fix it. because if it's Norton's dll's then when you repair install they may re register them

Hi Julian, it was the Norton part; uninstalling and reinstalling Norton. Sincere thanks for your care and help, stephen
