I am attempting to install:
Tweaking.com_advanced_system_tweaker_setup.exe

and get the following error

Unable to open setup file

The computer is:

Acer Aspire 3100 V3.05A

69.54 Gigabytes Usable Hard Drive Capacity
18.31 Gigabytes Hard Drive Free Space
2 Gig memory

Windows XP Professional Service Pack 3 (build 2600)

Any help is appreciated.

I am beginning to think there is a problem with the computer. Does Advanced System Tweaker require certain Windows Services or libraries such as .DOT net? Even tweaking.com_simple_system_tweaker_setup.exe stops with the error, Unable to open setup file.

It shouldn't. I made the setup with Setup Factory 9.

Can you post a screen shot of the error for me?

I will also download it myself and make sure it works for me. I had a friend who had a problem like this on some of the other setups, it was his download manager. I had him download it from a different browser and it worked fine. Not sure if that is the same problem as you though, but might be worth a try :-)

When you downloaded it did you download it directly or from majorgeeks?

Not sure from where I downloaded it. I used my computer (where it works fine) and copied it across the net to the Acer. I will download it from your site with the Acer and give it a shot.

Thanks for all you help with this. - Dean

Update: I downloaded it from your site this morning with the Acer-Firefox 13.

I received the same error as shown int the screen shot.

Think I found the problem, this is for an older version but still the same

I figured out that the problem was to do with IRSetup.exe, which was being disallowed from running by the security settings on the computer.

It's all working now.

Irsetup is a language file made by setup factory. Some Antiviruses falsely flag it some times. Try disabling your AV and see if the installer will work for you

We both solved it. On a hunch I re-booted the Acer to Safe-Networking. It installed perfectly.

Re-booted back to normal mode and checked the Comodo firewall. Sure enough it blocked every attempt. Just in case, I added the installed program to "Trusted Files" and it running fine.

I've been running the Acer remotely, but should have trotted over to do the Safe Mode. I feel pretty dump -- I should have figured this out much sooner. Thanks. Dean

Thanks for your promptness, attention and help -- it's first class! Comodo, for as-yet, unknown reasons sometimes resets itself. It's problematic to say the least.

Love all your software and thanks again. Dean
