Hi,
Normally i would not test the process temp. But to day i checked and it is near 87 to 97 c. Is it normal for intel mother board 915 gav model?. If not, is there any thing i could do to reduce the temp. I am having a fan beside the cpu, which is working. My computer does have some boot problem, that it would not boot at the first attempt. Is this anything to do with processor.Pl
I saw this link regarding under volting to reduce the processor temp?. Are those downloads at the link down there are safe? or BSOD?

The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

If this is yours http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/Pentium_D/Intel-Pentium%20D%20915%20HH80553PG0724MN%20(BX80553915%20-%20BX80553915R).html then yes, it's way too high and you'd be better finding why it is running hot rather than "sticking your thumb over the end of the hosepipe" by tinkering with the voltage settings.

Don't continue to use it or you could fry it and possible cause damage to other components and overheating can cause a range of anomalous problems.

Open it up, clean off the old thermal paste and reseat it with something like Artic Silver paste, but giving the case a good clean out may be all it needs.

Hi, Is it easy for applying mother board paste by just opening or should it be left to technician? Should i remove the fan. I cleaned with soft cloth and i could not see the dust. How to make those cooool?
Now I understand that the power off is due to the auto action of mother board to show that there is something wrong in there? The cpu fan is working. I have a pedestal fan at the back of my computer.
My processor is D915GAV intel pendium 3.0. What is the optimum temperature that will allow my pc to work normally.
Thanks for your and boggins tips on the cause of self off of power switch.
The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

I would re thermal paste it, cleaning off any of the old thermal paste, then when you put the new on and the cpu back on make sure it has a nice tight fit on it. Also make sure that the bios us over clocking the cpu as well, over clocking would cause heat to climb very fast.

Might be a good idea to see if there is a bios update for the system as well.

How to over clock the cpu? Over clock , does that mean , increase the speed of processor. Regarding thermal paint, I will give it a try with a known technician. Could it be done without disturbing anything interior parts. I see my cpu fan mounted on the processor,

You have to remove the fan to clean off the old paste but watch the tech and you'll see how it is done.

This How-To Geek article on overclocking may be of interest but there are others if you Google http://www.howtogeek.com/165064/what-is-overclocking-the-absolute-beginners-guide-to-understanding-how-geeks-speed-up-their-pcs/
