The computer refuses to do much other then start a process.

Try running the program in Safe Mode with Networking as there will be limited drivers loaded then.

Is it needed if we found the solution already?

It was because you said the computer refuses to do much that I suggested Safe Mode with Networking.

Has HWMonitor confirmed your temps are getting that high to cause freezes ?

It may be time to renew the thermal paste on the CPU if they are, as prolonged overheating can cause serious damage.

Not even able to get to the CPU, school has there sticker covering a part where you unscrew.

Whats dumb is they threatened to charge people $700 for any damages, Including viruses.

Can you confirm if HWMonitor is showing high temps when you don't have the fan blowing on it ?

Have you blown the vents out as well as over the keyboard with a can of compressed air ?

Some laptops cooling is done through the keys.

While they are called laptops, they should only be used on a flat surface so the underside air intake doesn't get blocked or draws in fluff etc.

How old is the laptop because thermal paste can need renewing and is beyond the control of the user.

If it is overheating then you should take it back because if it does knack the CPU/motherboard, then you could face the cost of repair because of negligence in not reporting the fault.

-Yes I have kept this laptop in glorious condition and sprayed compressed air where needed, I have even taken all the keys off and cleaned under them a bout 2 weeks ago.

Some laptops cooling is done through the keys.

-This one doesn't.

While they are called laptops, they should only be used on a flat surface so the underside air intake doesn't get blocked or draws in fluff etc.

-I am unsure how else I would use it if it wasn't on a flat surface.

How old is the laptop because thermal paste can need renewing and is beyond the control of the user.

-I got it in 2012 brand new, out of its box.

If it is overheating then you should take it back because if it does knack the CPU/motherboard, then you could face the cost of repair because of negligence in not reporting the fault.

- I have reported the fault to my schools worthless IT system, It comes down to them assuming I beat the laptop over the side of a door, or assuming I got it infected with malware. By no means have I done anything wrong to the computer to cause anything, its been used frequently for 2 years and it most certainly wasn't expensive in the first place. And I won't be forcing me or my parents to pay twice what it was originally bought for.

You would have HWMonitor to prove it was overheating under normal conditions - that's if you've installed it as you have yet to answer my repeated requests as to whether it does confirm overheating.

If there's no physical damage to the case then their claim of damage would be groundless and checking for any malware can easily be done.

You said earlier that you would have to send it back when done - so are you on a Lease scheme ?

If this is the case then they are responsible for any hardware repairs unless you have a contract that says different.

The monitor software just isn't working, not in safemode or in normal. The process starts but nothing else happens.

And I am able to send the computer back at any time for a new one, They already send out newer and better laptops to students now anyway.

I have to give it back once I am done with highschool, I myself have not signed any contract, only read a paper that warns me about breaking it.

Unfortunately for me, their is this thing with the screen, like dirt is INSIDE it or something that I can't get too. Was going to ask on the forums about it in the future, but its hardly a problem.

I know it has to be a heat issue because this all didn't start happening til I moved to South Carolina, With higher temperatures inside and outside, Of course the definite proof with the software you gave would be nice too.

I've never heard of HWMonitor not running.

Try the free version of Speccy http://filehippo.com/download_speccy

Motherboard: 100-115F

Storage: 96F

Laptop got out of sleep mode not even an hour ago though.

Okay, Just for the heck of it, didn't use the fan, it froze twice in 1 hour while playing League of Legends and hosting a skype call, It had the obnoxious noise and everything, Came on check speccy the CPU is hitting 140 degrees and the HDD 110-120

140F = 60C and 120F is ~49C

The HDD temp is fine and the CPU is on the usually recommended max for long periods but CPUs can operate at much higher temps, although prolonged will result in damage.

Ideally 45C - 55C are the CPU temps you should be aiming for.

Speedfan is a program that regulates the speed of the fan so give that a try. http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/speedfan.html

Once installed, it runs in the background and you can delete the System info icon that appears on the desktop.

New fun twist, Went into safe mode, checked hardware devices and hwatnot, Found an option to show hidden drivers, found one with a yellow exclamation point, googled it, someone had the same thing with freezes, I did the fix, and so far (4 hours ago) I haven't had problems, Ill respond tomorrow night if I go the day without a freeze, or respond if I get another one.

Of course Ill have details as to what I did, but its 4:20am

While I've had mine running at 64C during a Furmark GPU stress test for ~20mins and nothing else, it didn't seem to have any adverse effects - but as you are getting an improvement with the external fan running, then download Speedfan and let it look after your fan speeds as continually running it at 140F (60C) will shorten the CPU/GPU's life.

Alright so I investigated my Device Manager and found the option to show the hidden devices, Which foolishly I never noticed.

The driver called "Security Processor Loader Driver" had the yellow mark, which caused me to google, The first result I get is

http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/91275-security-processor-loader-driver.html

With the person having the same problem I was having, Wouldn't you know it simple reinstall of the graphics driver, directly from Intel removed the Mark and I haven't had my laptop freeze since last night. (Heavily used it today)

And thanks to Intel finally making there software for drivers work again on my laptop, I even found my Chipset driver to be outdated, Boosted my performance index, and I can play my games with just a slightly better performance.

Anywho, Problem solved.

Glad you were able to resolve it, but I wonder why the freeze was intermittent.

Have you checked the temps to see if it's still running at 60C since you updated the chipset/graphics drivers ?

Yeah, They still get a bit high, but so far they haven't gotten as high as before.

I mean I play fallout 3 and League of Legends on an Intel Integrated so its working up a lot of heat.

Use the link in Reply #37 to install SpeedFan and that will auto regulate the fan speed for you.

I used to have speedfan, I later learned it doesn't work on laptops.

It could have been updated since you last used it ?

This Toshiba laptop started to run at around the 56C mark even though I give it a regular blow out, so I installed it onto here and it seems to keep the Max. down by 2 or 3 degress.

You could always give it a try and dump it if it doesn't improve the temps.

It was heat that was causing it, but the new drivers can handle the clock and voltage of the video and cpu, lowering it when needed and better controlling the temp of it. They also do this to help improve battery life, and as you see even performance itself.

So while the fan help keep things cool and stop freezing the updated drivers better handle the voltage and clock speeds keeping the heat from climbing so high.

I could have sworn it only worked on desktop fans though, I use to always get it but then I found out It does nothing for me.
