Windows Installer Service
« on: September 04, 2014, 10:09:51 am »
Hi and a very good day to you,
I wonder if you can help me, I am running Windows XP and am getting the following message: The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. Is it because Windows XP is no longer supported ?
It is very frustrating as I cannot remove some programs nor do my hp printer update.
Thanks   Regards Bob

Nope, not that at all :-)

Have you checked to see if the windows installer service is running and not disabled?

Have you ran any of the repairs in my Windows Repair tool yet?

Shane

There could be something related in Event Viewer which could give more info, but HP has an article on this which may apply to you http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&docname=c00811375 which is linked from http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-windows_programs/cannot-installuninstall-programs-using-xp-home-sp3/cf307f8e-f184-434a-88ca-ecba95c2f3c4 but MS has an auto Fixit which may sort the problem if the above doesn't apply -

I don't know if this Fixit does the same as the previous one linked, but you could give that a try if none of the previous suggestions work.

When you ran my Windows Repair did you make sure to run all the repairs?

Also can you post a screen shot of the error message itself? Does the error happen with any msi installer program or only certain programs?
