Windows8 update

My problem.
I have HP laptop windows 8
Since one week i can not update windows anymore. error 8024200D
tried every thing i could find, windows community, updated tweak in one, spend two nights on internet, nothing worked.
Some history, maybe not related.
Installed adobe pro trial  one month ago, worked fine. When trial ended, could not update any adobe prgram anymore and windows 8 update problem started.
I ran out of ideas.  Any help highly appreciated.

When a trial program expires and you don't intend to go Pro then it's best to uninstall it as aspects of it could be the cause of the problem, so either uninstall it or perform a clean boot and then try the updates to confirm.

The clean boot may also ID any other cause of a conflict but don't leave the program disabled in msconfig before you uninstall it as you will leave orphaned files.

Did you use v2.8.2 of my Windows Repair? And if you did did you make sure to run all the repairs?

Also I know this is for a different error code, but wont hurt to try it as well

Yes i  deleted all off trial program. 
When i tried to follow you other lead, going for reboot etc, i found myself in unknown territory.
For an enduser as myself i did not dare to go all the way as being feared to make a dramatic mistake.
Is there any other method a lay person as me can use?
Otherwise i have no other option than to bring my laptop to a repair shop and let them do it. Cost some money  but there i am.

yes i did run the latest update of tweak. No result.

The tutorial for the clean boot walks you through and how to revert to a normal boot, but it's the only method I know of that can isolate programs (except an AV program) to determine if any are in conflict.

The only way to isolate the AV program as the cause would be to either disable it, change it for something else or boot up into Safe Mode with Networking, but Windows Updates don't work in Safe Mode with Networking.

A tech would probably use the same method to eliminate any possible software conflicts, so why pay someone to do what you can do yourself.

Read carefully through or even print out the tutorial so you are familiar with all of the steps and then proceed with confidence.

I was nervous the first time I factory reset my laptop but trusted Windows to know what it was doing, just as MS gives the steps for performing a clean boot.

Also is it just certain updates that wont install or all of them?

Dont know. It gives the error code as soon as i try to download or search for updates.
Same problem with  adobe reader, no updates possible.
I think the whole problem started when my free trial for adobe pro expired.
I went to adobe website, registered for help but no help yet.
Am going around in circles.
If the Boggin method not works,  i want to try refresh.  What you think?

Refresh might be needed.

The windows updates isnt even able to look for updates, you get the error right away. That means that the winsxs folder or some other catalog files are corrupt on the system and when windows updates tries to read it, it just crashes. Which explains why none of the repairs are working, updates do work, but something else on the system isnt letting it do its job, which happens when a file it tries to read isnt the way it wants it.

Very possible that adobe could have messed with a file it shouldnt have. A refresh should rebuild all those files.
