its about iMac not getting 10.6.4 OS installed
« on: July 03, 2014, 06:34:13 pm »
Hi there
I tried to find thread with similar problem but couldn't so I'm posting the new one.
I have iMac from 2010, I'm trying to re-install the 10.6.4 OS (was shipped with it) because original HDD failed and I got it replaced with help of a tech. Now when I try to install the 10.6.4 again on the system it reaches the stage where it ask to choose the language and on next screen the little pop-up box appears and ask to "restore from back up or restart". All the options in task bar are grayed out.I have no backup and restarting bring me back to zero.

Please suggest what should I try to fix it.

PS:- I ran MEMtest the results were positive, in addition, I successfully installed UBUNTU to make sure that the system as a whole is working fine.  :blank:

Thanks in Advance(any help would be appreciated)

Found this

You may need to get your hands on a different copy of OSX, a retail one, so it isn't tied to your system. It is most likely complaining because the hardware changed so it is giving you a big middle finger
