problem with Windows explorer
« on: June 03, 2014, 06:03:36 am »
hello from the south of France :artist:
and before I start my talking about my recent problems, I would like to praise your work
and the fine software, Tweaking.com-Windows Repair, that you put on the net. Thanks again.
I was having problems and recurring BOSD while visiting a certain site and this only while using my scroll button
on the pages on the forum; of course this started to give other small problems, and I used your program.
This seems to have solved this problem and my ordi seems to be working better.
Everything seemed quite well till I started look at my photos ....
To open up my dossier with Windows Explorer, double click left, no problem,
to open up a photo with a click right, windows explorer closes down completely!!
Normally with a right click I should have my menu with the different programs that I use to modify my photos,
now WExplorer just shut down completely, did I do something drastic with your tweaker program
that I can correct? I have a right click on the dossier, so that I can have access to my different softwares,
but it is quite strange that WE shuts down like that.  It is doing this everywhere, the dossier is opened, but a right click closes it down

I attached a screen copy of my system, my OS is on a SSD 120Go,
I'm starting to wonder if my mouse is not causing this problem,
which is a wireless Logitech MX Air, about 4 years old, who knows?
or the software with it?

Best regards, nzapata

When you right click on a file windows reads the registry for that file type and loads up any dll file or menu items to display for that file type.

It sounds like you have a file on the system that is installed to where when you right click on a picture it should be making new menu items, instead it is crashing and taking explorer with it.

You could use this tool
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shell_menu_view.html

And see what is loading for those picture types (.jpg, .ong and so on)

You can sort by column, so sort by the file type so you can see all the jpg files together and such.

After you sort it by type see if you can save the list, if so, save it and post it and I can take a look at it :-)
