Printer Diver

Why does printer driver not show in device manager? But the printer work ok. Just wondering is all.

Because MS likes to be a pain lol

In XP the printer showed up in the device manager, then with each new version of Windows MS changed what shows up there.

The printer drivers will be in the spool folder in the system32 folder. But such as Windows 8.1 I am on, the device manager doesnt show my printer but instead shows its print queue. Go figure lol

Ok got it. I see that your program Hardware Identify does not show the printer driver. It that the way it should work or should it show the printer driver.

The program returns what ever WMI reports back for drivers. Windows treats printer drivers differently now, which explains why they dont show up in the device manager any more.
