windows 7 ultimate
« on: March 05, 2012, 03:22:31 am »
 Hi all, last week my windows updated automatically , however on restart the following morning it logged on with the blue screen password etc then went to a black screen with all the usual icons with no problems other than no screen saver. No matter what one tries, restore deleting of the updates, I cannot load a screen saver. The usual searches provides others with the same problem and some case worse, no icons at all. Microsoft are about as much use as a chocolate frog. Is there any one out there who can shed light on this problem.

In anticipation. Richard

So everything works but a screen saver wont come on or can not be set?

Also try this, open a cmd.exe window and put in
sfc /scannow

Let me know what it says :-)

I have run a 'Scannow' and it found no 'Integrity Violations' in the scan, to be fair I had already run this scan, I have tried restore etc etc but no success . I am concerned because I have a new computer arriving and I will be loading my new windows 7 ultimate OS and if I allow it to update automatically it will import the same problem. Microsoft is not very helpful and considering there are apparently large numbers of others who have the same problem I am surprised that they have not released a fix yet. Any advice would be welcome.

Thank you. Richard
