Download Problem
« on: February 10, 2014, 12:23:53 am »
Whenever I download with the origin Windows downloader I get defekt files. A ziparchive is declared as defekt a setupexe is shown as non win32 program.
Loading down with a downloadmanager or the inbuilt downloader of a browser works.
What can I do ?
PS. Afew days ago I had an error message concerning rundll32.exe.

When internet explorer has trouble downloading files it is a lot of time because a virus has done something to the built in windows defender.

It uses it to scan files after they have downloaded and if it is messed up will simply fail every time. Of course this effects Vista and newer, you didnt tell me what version of Windows you are on.

If you are not on XP, are you able to open Windows Defender?

Thank You . As I found out , it was the firewall ( Zonealarm) , that killed the downloads. It worked fine for years and than turned bad without reason . Now I dated it up and it works fine again. :cheesy:
It had nothing to do wit the rundll problem.
By the way , I uesd Tweaking com Windows repair 1.9.1 to register the system DLLs. After that I could not go online wit Windows live mail anymore. It stayed offline . So I had to install the registry backup .

That is a really old version, always use the newest version as I am always fixing and adding things :-)

In fact I just put out v2.3.0. You can see all the changes I made down on this page
http://www.tweaking.com/content/page/windows_repair_all_in_one.html

And if you look from 1.9.1 to the newest there have been a LOT of changes lol

Thanks - now I have the newest version. But the problem with the mail program was not the fault of your prog. It did it just again. It starts offline and can not be switched to online.

The mail will go into offline mode normally when it cant see a internet connection, could it be zone alarm getting in the way?

It is the other way- I am online and start the mailprogram. It starts in offlinemodus and can not be switched to online modus. As I found out it depends on the Internet Explorer. If the IE is active the Windows Live Mail starts online . IE and WLM must be connected in some way - sh.. Microsoft. :sarcastic:

I hate how they tie in their apps together like that.

Glad you found out what was happening :-)
