My Windows Repair doesn't start.

I've used Tweaking Windows Repair for a fair while (about 2-3 years?) so when I installed the latest update only to find it wouldn't run, it kinda bummed me out. I searched the forums but couldn't find anything else on here so I decided to put this up here myself.

I've installed version of 2.1.0 Tweaking and tried to run it, but only got a "Repair_Windows.exe.manifest" file, the contents of it is mentioned below. I use Windows 7 Ultimate Edition. Anything else I forgot to mention, please tell me.

The Repair_Windows.exe.manifest is just a file to tell windows that the Repair_Windows.exe file needs to be ran with admin rights.

Wasnt Repair_Windows.exe in the folder as well or did something remove it?

The .exe is still there. I also had it run with Administrator Rights aswell. It always asks for Admin rights when I start it.

Which it will when the UAC is on. Any program that needs admin rights will trigger the UAC to ask for permission. The manifest file simply lets Windows know it needs admin rights so you dont have to right click on it and choose run as administrator.

Okay, I can safely say I've learned something today.
However the problem is still there. It still refuses to run.

Any error message at all? Anything in the event viewer? Is it running but not showing? Check to see if it shows up in the processes tab in the task manager.

Did you also disable any antivirus that was running? I know avast has a sandbox mode and can keep programs from running.

No message or anything other than Windows asking me if I want to let this thing run with admin privileges. Once I allow it, it shows up for about 1 sec in Task Manager's Processes tab. Then it closes. I even disabled my antivirus and still no change.

Anything show up in the event viewer showing a crash or anything?

To be honest, I never used Event Viewer. So I might need some help with this part. I've gotten it open, now I'm just waiting to be pointed in the right direction.

Event viewer, windows logs and application. Before you go to it try to open the windows repair again and then check the event viewer and see if there is anything in there about it.

Is the visual basic 6 run time file. My program is made in VB6.

Try reinstalling the runtime files

I've had a go at downloading and installing the files but despite the incredibly simple instructions, it does not install. I've run it as admin and still nothing.

OK run a system file check on the system, something is corrupt somewhere.

OPen a cmd.exe window as administrator then do

sfc /scannow

I did that yesterday. Do I have to do another? Either way, I'm going for it.

That file is part of the OS so it should replace it if it is corrupt. You could also try registering the file manually as well.

It isnt my program that is crashing, it is the runtime file.

So apparently I just finished with the scan and it says there's no integrity violations.

Did you register that dll file manually?

Well I did have a look recently (I forgot to do it last time) and I've found that the .dll file doesn't even exist! So I can't register it manually or anything (or so I have tried).

What is interesting is the dll is 32bit not 64bit so it should be in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 not the system32 folder.

Well I've apparently registered the .dll file but Windows Repair still won't start up. It's still the same.

I am at a loss of what to do at this point. The problem is the vb6 run time file is for some reason crashing on your computer.

I cant remember but did you try the program in safe mode?

I've had a speak with one of my friends about the situation and he recommended I reinstall Windows. Not that big of a loss anyway because I plan on getting some new parts soon and if I know Windows, they won't like the new computer (or so I've been told) so I have to reinstall anyway.

Well a repair install will work till then when you get the new hardware. But for a runtime file as old as VB6 to be broken, it makes me wonder what else is wrong on the system. So a reinstall does sound best
