Problem is the are so many problems inside windows that we could be wasting a ton of time trying to fix those 2 when other things might be the cause.

Do you have a cell phone you could take a picture of the error for me at all? Or check and see if the setup made a log file I could read?

Windows is in need of a reinstall bad. A lot of deep problems.

the SFC cant even run. And the repair reinstall wont either.

A fresh install would be best but I know how that is a pain. Our best bet is to find out why the repair install wont work and get it going. That repair install will fix a ton of these problems, as long as they are not hardware related :-)

You only need 64bit java for 64bit browsers, otherwise just install the 32 bit version.

And looks like MSI is messed up for it and you simply need to remove it from the windows installer, you can use this to do that

MSI installer is the main source of downloading of many programs to your computer. It is microsoft office installer to install or uninstall many programs. If it is corrupted, then most of the program would not get installed and report error. This is true of java also.
I think that your computer needs fresh install altogether.
Your posts show, recurring of different problems at different times of posting. I had also had msi problem which could not be fixed by anything other than fresh install.
The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

There are repair tools available for msi installer, but if your registry entries are corrupted, it is not easy to repair with those programs. You could also may not able to see it in plain english in registry. There are millions of entries regarding msi, and that path could not be easily accessible. The main source of installer , if corrupted, could not be repaired with available tools.
So, it is better that you attempt fresh install which will remove all the system agony.I have tried deeply in to this, by going to the registry entries, it will be in coded words, not in plain english and nothing worked for me. Registry repair tool should have worked well, it replaces the default entries for all the registry main and subkeys, but it is not possible to delete those entries, created by the infected programs. So those key entries are there to create more problems. Fresh install is the best possible, or otherwise, repair install would be the last option to try.

The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

Frankly i do not above windows 8, recent release.
But windows 7 has all the support, and full fledged release.
sevenforum and other sites deal mostly with windows seven forums.
Many automated tools and trouble shoot available.
For me it is the best supported. It automatically fixes so many problems, it has trouble shoot which is a useful tool for particular problem. It automates updated drivers for the hardware for workable condition.Sevenforums have unlimited topics of help, besides pcsupport com.
In lighter vein, Why does not exhause the earlier features , than trying improved versions which are in beta stages
The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".

Sorry for the late reply, my wife had our baby :-)

Sfc cant be fixed, it has to do with the winsxs folder and no known way to repair it except for a reinstall.

As for the cleanup tool. It is meant to remove an entry from the msi installer when you are unable to.

In this case java wont install because msi sees it as already installed but the install information is corrupt. So by removing java from the windows installer, the next time you try to install it the windows installer wont think it is installed and will install it fresh.

For sfc /scannow not working, windows repair install is the only option. It seems that your msinstaller both program and registry entries are corrupt, or some files accidentally deleted this to function.Pl see this link and try to repair install

Where you able to find the setup log to find out what the error was with the repair install?

Hi  I am trying to help you
Shane meant the log file of system fatal error of install repair.
But you have given the print screen of the device manager. Pl enclose the log of the fatal error. You can uninstall all the exclamatory devices and then try to reboot, so that you see the problem still exist. If it is so, then you have to deeply analyse the event id in the event viewer.

You could also try to run msinfo32.exe to get to the system information, and click problematic drivers over there and see what is giving the problem.
The Bottom line is "Check your hardware first if it supports the task you try".
