Do you have a bluetooth device built into the laptop? (most do now a days)

You need to make sure you have the laptops bluetooth software installed and running. Normally you would have a blutooth icon down by the clock if it is running correctly.

Have you tried reinstalling the bluetooth driver and software?

There may be some reg keys missing and a reinstall should put them back

Go to add/remove programs and uninstall it.

Then just go to the laptops product page, there you have a download drivers area and you can grab the bluetooth software and anything else you need for drivers for the laptop

Every store bough machine has a driver downloads page from the manufacturer so people can get the drivers they need.
