I remember this error. 8024402c means it had trouble talking to the windows update servers. ANd I have always found it to be DNS related.

My fix is to have the system use the google dns servers 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4

This bug is on my own ISP. When I used their DNS every single machine in my house and office would fail with this error. As soon as I changed dns servers they all worked. I tried to let my ISP know but they just ignored me lol

SO try the dns trick and see how it does

That worked. Do not know why it stopped working. Maybe you could add this fix to your program. Thanks a lot. You rock.

I think the DNS problem is on the ISP side. Because when it happened to me I could open a cmd window and do

ipconfig /flushdns

And then Windows updates would work on downloading the first few updates then the rest failed with the error. And it happen on all 5 machines at the same time. So the common factor was the DNS from my ISP.

What was odd was my ISP said no one else has had the problem. There was another person on here with the same error and it was his ISP, I think it was something with the modem, not sure. Some how DNS was getting corrupted. But I like the google dns better anyways lol

I cant add it to the repair as users wont like me changing their dns lol

I think I should make a sticky thread for the workaround :-)

True, but there is so many different versions of Windows.

I wonder if I made a different version of my simple static Ip tool
http://www.pcwintech.com/simple-static-ip

Where it only sets the DNS and leaves the IP alone? That would make it a lot easier for users :-)
